5 Easy Ideas

October 01, 2026

Hey friend,

This week has been a mix of cozy moments and chaos over here. Kiara is shedding like she’s personally trying to carpet the house. You too?

If one of your goals is to feed your dog just a little better without turning your whole life upside down, I’ve got you.

Here are five simple things you can do this week to get closer to that fresh-feeding goal:

1. Add one fresh food your dog’s never tried before

Blueberries, green beans, pumpkin, sweet potato… pick one and toss a spoonful into tonight’s bowl.

One tiny change builds confidence fast.

2. Swap a bit of kibble for the topper calories

This is the part most dog parents skip.

To keep meals balanced, remove a little kibble when you add fresh food.

It takes 10 seconds and makes a massive difference in digestion and weight.

3. Try one “hydration boost” at dinner

Warm water, bone broth, or goat milk.

Hydration is one of the easiest nutrition wins and helps dogs feel great without changing the whole meal.

4. Pick one “holiday treat swap” to avoid tummy drama

If whipped cream, pie crust, or ham scraps usually sneak their way to your dog… swap for pumpkin, blueberries, or a pup cup made with yogurt.

Your dog still gets the fun without the aftermath.

5. Make one thing easier for your future self

Print your portion chart, prep a tiny bag of frozen toppers, or save a go-to list of “yes foods.”

Organization is secretly a nutrition skill.

Hit reply and tell me which one you’re doing. I’ll cheer you on and keep you accountable in the least intimidating dog-mom way possible.

PS. If you’re ready to make fresh feeding easier long-term, the Fresh Feeding Trio is still on holiday sale right now. It includes the Topping Portion Chart, the Fresh Add-Ons Guide, and the Holiday Guide to Fresh Add-Ons.

A tiny toolkit to make fresh feeding doable, not overwhelming.

Thank you again for being part of our pack.

October 01, 2026 Hi Friend, This week's dog news has a little bit of everything. There's new research on a tool that may help vets figure out whether a lump looks suspicious faster, more cancer research I'm keeping an eye on, and apparently we've reached the part of September where every city collectively decides: What if we threw an event, but made it for dogs? I am so here for it. So here's your quick weekly dispatch: one study worth knowing about, a few things I'm watching, and several...

October 01, 2026 Okay, so we all know excess weight isn’t exactly great for dogs. But this study asked a more interesting question: What is actually happening inside a dog as body condition changes? If you’re new here, hi. 👋 I’m Haley, and I spend an unreasonable amount of time reading dog nutrition and health research so you do not have to. My goal is basically: help you make smarter choices for your dog without turning every study into a panic attack. So this one caught my attention because...

October 01, 2026 THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER Hello dog fam, It’s a hot one. I feel like I’ve been saying that for the last two weeks, and somehow it keeps getting hotter. 🥵 Kiara and I are currently cooling down inside with Shark Week. She is not impressed by the sharks, but she is deeply committed to any snack involved in the viewing experience. So this summer, I pulled together a tiny summer survival kit for the dogs: a cooling treat, a few dog-friendly swim days worth saving in advance, a...
