Hi friend,
I’ve been quiet for a while, and I’m sorry for the sudden silence.
The truth is… I lost my dog recently. Even writing that still makes my chest tighten.
Nala wasn’t just a pet. She was my teacher, my college bestie, and the reason I ever deep-dived into dog nutrition in the first place. Losing her stopped me in my tracks. I needed time to grieve and to figure out how to talk about her without falling apart.
But that time away also gave me something I didn’t expect.
It helped me reflect on my whole journey. From who I was when I started learning about fresh feeding, to who I became while caring for Nala, and what really matters when we’re doing our best for our dogs.
Here’s what stood out the most:
1. Our dogs don’t need perfection. They need presence.
They don’t care if the food is photogenic or if we didn’t make the highest quality food with the perfect recipe. They care that we show up consistently with love and intention.
2. Nutrition isn’t just food. It’s time. It’s energy. It’s connection.
Fresh feeding didn’t cure her cancer. But it did give her better days. More spark. More tail wags. More moments where she felt three instead of eleven. And I’ll be forever grateful for more bonding moments.
3. Stress never adds time. Presence sometimes does.
I spent years researching and overthinking. Honestly? The simpler I kept things, the happier and healthier she felt. I think this is precisely because they feed off our emotions and keeping things simple let me enjoy the little moments I had with her. Our dogs don’t need us to be perfect.
If you’re reading this, thank you for staying.
Thank you for giving me space to step away. Coming back feels raw, but also grounding. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Reconnecting with people who truly get why this matters has given me peace and reminded me of my journey and purpose.
And because so many of you have told me you want to feed better without burning out, I wanted to share what I’ve been working on.
Over the past three years, I’ve been building a simple trio of tools that would’ve changed everything for me in the beginning. Cheat sheets I wish I had during Nala’s journey.
This year, for Black Friday, I put them together into one bundle to make fresh feeding actually feel doable:
• The Dog Food Topping Portion Chart
A quick-glance chart that tells you exactly how much fresh food you can add based on your dog’s weight, without accidentally overfeeding. Perfect if you want to boost their meals but don’t have the mental space for math.
• The Fresh Add-Ons Guide
My no-guilt guide for upgrading any bowl with balanced, vet-approved ingredients. It shows you what to add, why it helps, and how to keep it simple so feeding fresh feels doable, not overwhelming.
• The Holiday Guide To Fresh Add-Ons
Seasonal ideas and holiday-themed upgrades that make your dog’s meals feel special without extra stress. Think festive, wholesome add-ins you can use all winter long, with clear instructions so you don’t have to guess.
I put them together to take the guesswork out of fresh feeding and make it feel less like a project and more like a routine.
If you want to check out the trio, here’s the link:
ON SALE for $9 (normally $17), my lowest offer of the year.
(The discount automatically applies.)
No pressure, as always. If it helps you feel more confident feeding your pup, I’m glad. And if not, I’m still grateful you’re here.
Give your pup an extra squeeze tonight.
For Nala.
With love,
Haley & Kiara
