A little pupdate + a tiny summer snack tip 🐾

October 01, 2026

Hi friend,

I’ve been thinking about this space a lot lately.

To be honest, I haven't really been on my email game since losing Nala.

After sharing that with you, I found myself without much to say. Every time I sat down to write, it just didn't feel right.

But lately, I've been finding my way back.

Not by trying to "get back to normal," but by enjoying the little moments with Kiara again.

Her happy dance at mealtime.

The excitement over a new treat.

The way she somehow makes an ordinary Tuesday feel a little brighter.

It reminded me why I started sharing in the first place.

Not because I have all the answers.

Not because every dog needs a perfect diet.

But because there are simple, practical ways to make life with our pups a little healthier and a little happier.

So here's one for this week.

If you're making a grocery run, grab an extra watermelon.

Kiara's been loving a few small pieces as a summer treat. It's hydrating, easy to prepare, and honestly... watching her crunch away brings me way more joy than it probably should. (Just keep portions small since watermelon is naturally sweet.)

Going forward, that's what you can expect from these emails.

Simple tips.

Easy recipes.

Little ways to help your dog thrive and hopefully make you smile, too.

I'd love to hear from you.

What's been the hardest part about feeding your dog lately?

Just hit reply. I read each one.

I'm really glad you're here.

– Haley + Kiara

Thank you again for being part of our pack.

October 01, 2026 Hi Friend, This week's dog news has a little bit of everything. There's new research on a tool that may help vets figure out whether a lump looks suspicious faster, more cancer research I'm keeping an eye on, and apparently we've reached the part of September where every city collectively decides: What if we threw an event, but made it for dogs? I am so here for it. So here's your quick weekly dispatch: one study worth knowing about, a few things I'm watching, and several...

October 01, 2026 Okay, so we all know excess weight isn’t exactly great for dogs. But this study asked a more interesting question: What is actually happening inside a dog as body condition changes? If you’re new here, hi. 👋 I’m Haley, and I spend an unreasonable amount of time reading dog nutrition and health research so you do not have to. My goal is basically: help you make smarter choices for your dog without turning every study into a panic attack. So this one caught my attention because...

October 01, 2026 THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER Hello dog fam, It’s a hot one. I feel like I’ve been saying that for the last two weeks, and somehow it keeps getting hotter. 🥵 Kiara and I are currently cooling down inside with Shark Week. She is not impressed by the sharks, but she is deeply committed to any snack involved in the viewing experience. So this summer, I pulled together a tiny summer survival kit for the dogs: a cooling treat, a few dog-friendly swim days worth saving in advance, a...
